Norton Middle School

Mrs. McDonnell has devoted her career to helping students believe in themselves and achieve their dreams. She taught for 12 years and is now a middle school counselor. She has also done many extra-curricular activities over her career to impact students’ lives–such as coach basketball, softball and track; advise Student Council, Key Club and Model UN Club; and start a “Be the Change” Club. In order to share her knowledge with other educators and counselors, she has been a presenter at the All-Ohio Counselor Conference and the American Middle Level Association Conference. She also served as the President of the Summit County Counselors Association. In her spare time, she serves as the Band Camp Chairperson for her sons’ High School, has coached their basketball teams and has devoted 13 years to being a Scout Leader in her boys’ pack and troop. She has been a Den Leader, Cubmaster, and District Committee Chair. But more importantly than everything she has done, is why she does it and how she does it! She is always ready with a listening ear and a caring heart. She strives to always be positive and her students know that she cares about them. She even recently took in a foster child from her school!
