Glades Middle School
Miramar, FL
As an educator for 17 years, Jennifer never seizes to amaze me. She has a passion to her students like I have never seen. She is naturally motivated to make a difference. She teaches a course called Peer Counseling which teaches Social Emotional Learning. This leadership course is geared towards kindness and empathy. She hosts activities such as: Anti-Bullying Week, Red Ribbon Week, No Name Calling Week, etc.. She’s also proud to collaborate with agencies such as Women in Distress, Department of Health, The Hanley Foundation, United Way, etc.. Working with these partners allow the students to have experiences that will make them more well-rounded. Just when you think she is working hard enough, she works harder. Lately, she is putting energy into the staff culture of her school. Since the pandemic, it’s been hard to assimilate. Therefore, she brought back the Sunshine Club to host staff morale boosters. The students are leading the change for this initiative to teach love. The students, parents, and staff adore her efforts and appreciate her hard work. She is a dedicated educator that does everything to better our future generation. She finds joy in her job, students, and school and deserves this award more than anyone I know.
