When I entered Mrs. Benavides’ class my freshmen year I knew she wasn’t just any teacher; she was special. Mrs. Benavides made me see literature in a new light. In her classroom learning isn’t just about textbooks; she ignites a passion for knowledge fostering curiosity and growth. She ensures every student feels valued and capable of reaching their dreams. Mrs. Benavides is a pillar of support offering guidance, encouragement and empathy. The atmosphere in her class is unparalleled. Recognizing each student’s potential she encourages us to step out of our comfort zones and try new things. As a junior, she’s been one of the biggest believers in me since I realized I wanted to be an artist. Even when I doubt my abilities, she’s there urging me to pursue my dreams and assuring me of my capabilities. Mrs. Benavides has immensely helped me grow both as an artist and as a person. I can’t think of a teacher or person more deserving of this recognition. Winning would be a fitting reward for her unwavering commitment and hard work
