Lead Southeast High
Nashville, TN
Mrs. Renfro teaches a class called College Seminar. It informs and prepares 10th grade students to navigate the college application process. Located in the most diverse zip code in the state of Tennessee, many of her students are first generation college students. This class is an invaluable part to them as they approach the very daunting system of college admissions. She’s been scored as a level 5/5 teacher for multiple years in a row (that’s the highest ranking for a TN Educator). She lives in the community where she teachers with her husband, seven chickens, and one duck. Some teachers have an open door policy to create a safe environment for their students; Mrs. Renfro has an open house policy. It’s a common Friday evening to have a student stop by, play some games, and raid their snack pantry. As a result, their living room has hosted many student birthday parties and game nights. Mrs. Renfro’s favorite hobby is to travel. This is hard to do with a teacher’s salary. She’s begun an instagram called “Traveling on a Teacher’s Budget” and she would love for this cruise to be the first of many traveling adventures she can showcase with other educators.
