As a special education teacher Nancy lives her true passion by supporting students from JK-Gr. 12 across all areas of ability (learning disabilities autism visual impairment and physical/intellectual disabilities). She supports her colleagues in finding innovative ways to create access for students with complex learning needs. Nancy shares her joy of teaching/learning for ALL students by moderating twitter chats hosting webinars and speaking at conferences to raise awareness about the power of accessibility and inclusion. She inspires students/staff to harness the power of “assistive technology” to change lives. 6 months ago she underwent neurosurgery. A complication left her without feeling in her lower left leg. An avid runner and CrossFitter Nancy was left learning to use a wheelchair for mobility. (As a single mom and caregiver to her own mom) she approaches each day with strength and optimism finding ways to access ability instead of seeing new life circumstances as a disability. She chooses to share her journey with others albeit personal and difficult at times so that she can give voice to the importance of accessibility inclusion. Nancy’s passion innovation courage and strength inspire others every day. “
